Patagonia Synchilla Duckbill Hat Patagonia: Synchilla Duckbill Hat

Toasty warm hat with a bill for sun protection.

A multitasker ? with warm insulation for chilled mornings and a bill for afternoon sun protection. Fast-drying earth-friendly soft Synchilla fleece (89% recycled content) forms both the crown and a fold-down earflap that hugs the nape of your neck. The nylon duckbill brim protects face and eyes from high-alpine sun and has a dark underside to reduce glare. A back buckle customizes the fit. 100% recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

earlier model was terrific Image: 5 Stars

I've worn the early model for at least 15 years and it's designed excellently with a 5-gore construction that keeps it snug around the band yet lifted comfortably off the crown. I just came here to buy a replacement hoping the Patagonia store would have an identical hat to my old one after trying on this new junky model at our local outdoor store. It's crudely constructed and has none of the benefits of the early model. Patagonia where are you???

This hat rules. It is great for any low intensity outdoor acitivity in the cold. It is more a lifestyle hat than a super rad action hat. Best use is for after surf head warmth. Nothing better to get your head right.

I purchased the Synchilla Duckbill hat for my husband for Christmas. I ordered it late but it still made it in time for the big day! He loves it!!

I bought my first one in 1995 (and still have it). These are terrific hats in all weather except really severe wind (even then they still hold some warmth). I used to think they were pricey ... not any more. They hold up keep my head nice and warm comfortable practical ... and they LAST. Well worth the cost.
