Suunto Core Watch Suunto: Core Watch

Essential equipment for the vertically inclined this tool is the Pro benchmark for ABC wristops.

You look up and see stars. But your Suunto Core sees an approaching squall. And it tells you with the Storm Alarm - one of several intelligent features that can help you make consistently good decisions. Building on the success of the venerable Suunto Vector the Suunto Core keeps you informed with an accurate altimeter barometer digital thermometer Weather Trend Indicator and digital compass. The pressure gauge operates in four distinct modes including an automatic setting that senses your movement or lack thereof switching between altimeter and barometer accordingly. The compass features a rotating bezel for traditional use or a one-touch function that allows you to sight lock and follow a bearing. Daily functions include dual time date alarm sports chronograph and predicted times for sunrise and sunset.

Great watch for backpacking Image: 5 Stars

Bought this watch last month and just took it out on a 5 day hike through the Beartooth wilderness in Montana. This watch does everything a backpacker could need it to do-- sunrise/sunset compass altitude-- all accurate as far as I could tell. The watch also looks great although it is large and might look funny on medium to small wrists. My only complaint would be that this watch is not solar powered. This is something Suunto needs to focus on in the future. I hear that this watch does go through batteries pretty rapidly and to get caught in the wild without a watch would be a huge problem. I would be willing to pay more to have this feature.
