The North Face Men's Chinook Convertible Parka The North Face: Men's Chinook Convertible Parka

One of the few parkas you'll find with a removable hood. Waterproof and seam-sealed construction.

Similar in design to other parkas from The North Face this Men's Chinook Convertible Parka doesn't have insulation so you can choose your layers according to the conditions outside. It offers plenty of pockets for storage and a practical detachable hood that's great for situations when you're wearing a helmet on a snowmobile. Inside the Chinook Convertible Parka you'll find two water bottle pockets a zippered security pocket and an electronics compartment for your radio cellular phone and MP3 player. The convertible drop hem also drops down for extra coverage when you need it--like when the snow turns to sticky sleet. If you're looking for other parkas with similar features and a detachable hood check out The North Face McMurdo Parka.

Great winter coat for Chicago Image: 5 Stars
by Wheaton Ron
I bought this coat in February 2007. I walk to the train in the Chicago area about 1.5 miles. This coat keeps me warm. People on the train will comment how nice the coat is and question whether it keeps me warm--it does. That said I would not use this coat if I had to drive in a car or just walk short distances--too bulky. But for my needs it is perfect. North Face quality and construction is top notch.

The jacket is definitely high quality and putting it on makes me feel like I'm preparing for an Arctic expedition. It has about 10 pockets (I stopped counting) with zippers and cords every which way. I think it runs narrower in girth than it does in length. I’m 235lbs 6ft with a 46 chest and large would probably have been too tight with any type of layering but I feel like I’m wearing a dress because its past mid-thigh.. Also the jacket is pretty heavy and bulky so it may be awkward for small cars and public transportation commuters - but at least you’ll be warm.

This coat is incredibly warm has tons of pockets and looks great. It runs big so I had to return it for a smaller size.
